The 2017 Volkswagen Golf GTI Clubsport S is a limited edition model introduced in May 2016 at the annual festival in Wörthersee. The Clubsport S is built to commemorate 40 years of the iconic Golf GTI hot-hatch and will be limited to only 400 cars worldwide.
Under the hood, there is 2.0-liter, four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine from the new Golf GTI TCR which deliver 306 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque from 1700 to 5,300 rpm. From a standstill to 100 km/h (62 mph) the hot-hatch hits in 5,8 seconds with a top speed of 260 km/h (162 mph). At the Nurburgring, this hyper-hatch set the record for a front-wheel drive serial-production cars with a lap time of 07:49:21! Thanks to a reduced weight, track-specific settings for the Dynamic Chassis Control system, 19-inch wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires and many other small modifications.
There is no more rear seats inside and the front seats replaced with racing buckets. The steering wheel and gear knob are wrapped in Alcantara with red contrast stitching. Each Clubsport S will have on the center console its production number from 001 to 400.
