The 2016 BMW X1 is a small luxury SUV that’s available with either front or four-wheel drive. It is the second generation of X1, build on a new platform and redesigned to look more like a sport SUV, then as a wagoon. Thanks to a transverse engine, it has more room for front and rear passengers. The new design allowed to increase boot sizes too.
The engine line-up of the X1 consists of three- (1.5 litre) and four-cylinder (2.0 litre) petrol and diesel twin-turbo engines that work with 8-speed automatic or 6-speed manual transmission. BMW says, the sprint from 0 to 60 mph (0-96 km/h) takes 6.3 seconds, while top speed is 143 mph (230 km/h) for most powerful models.
There are more luxury materials used for interior trims, even in base models. Standard features include power adjustable and heated front seats, infotainment system with 6.5-inch screen, HiFi sound system with two subwoofers, adaptive LED headlights, cruise control and rear parking sensors with a camera.
